Drawing at the Canadian Museum of Nature

My wife and I recently visited our nations capital, Ottawa. While there we took in the many memorable sights as well as visited the various museums located in the city. One of the museums was the Canadian Museum of Nature. While there I took the opportunity to spend some time sketching. The museum is filled with wonderful displays and offers plenty of inspiration. It also has one of the best collections of birds and I of course couldn’t resist spending some time there. I spent several hours perusing the displays and sketching anything that caught my eye, focusing mostly on the song birds. The basic shapes make them fun and interesting to draw and the varying colours are always inspiring. Below are the sketches I completed while there. I also took some reference photos just in case I want to develop any of the sketches further.
